Latest Updates
Show Desktop Tutorials in the Extension
The extension shows learners the right tutorials on the page they're working in, but until now that only worked for tutorials captured with the extension. Tutorials captured with the Desktop tool or converted from Scribe can now appear in the extension too. Assign the web address where each one should show up.
Desktop and Scribe tutorials displayed in the extension can't be played in Do or Live mode.
Embed Synthesia AI Videos in Your Tutorials
Watch TutorialScreenshots show learners what to click, but sometimes a step needs a face and a voice to explain why it matters. Now you can connect your Synthesia account and embed AI-generated Synthesia videos directly into an Info step, adding a presenter to your tutorials without leaving the editor.
You'll need a Synthesia account and its API connection to embed Synthesia videos.
Synthesia joins the existing embed sources: YouTube, Vimeo, Wistia, Microsoft document embed codes, and any Google document that supports Publish to Web.
A Cleaner Partner Integration Flow
Watch TutorialWorking with iorad inside a partner application used to drop you into a single flow, and switching tasks meant starting over. The reworked integration now opens on a Choose your path screen, so you go straight to capturing, embedding, or managing tutorials, and you can switch between them at any point.
You can set a default landing page to skip the Choose your path screen and go straight to the option you use most.
When embedding, you can still open the editor or tutorial settings to make a quick change before the tutorial goes into your course.
- Read release note: Draggable Help Icon#extension
Draggable Help Icon
Watch TutorialThe iorad question mark icon sits in the bottom-right corner of your screen, and sometimes that's exactly where the button or field you need is. Until now, there was no way to move it. Now you can drag the icon, and the Library panel it opens, anywhere on your screen.
Moving the icon is temporary. It may snap back to the corner while you interact with the page, but you can drag it again any time.
Bulk-Add Tutorials to a Library
Watch TutorialOnce your tutorials were categorized and tagged, getting them into a library still meant adding them one at a time. Now you can select a group of tutorials right on your Tutorials page and add them to a new or existing web library in a single step.
Use the category and tag views to quickly select a whole group of related tutorials.
Search for a library by name, or scroll the list to find the one you want.
Pin Your Favorite Filters
Watch TutorialIf you check the same set of tutorials every day, you had to rebuild that filter each time you opened the PowerFilter. Now you can save any filter and pin it to your Tutorials page, so the views you rely on are ready the moment you need them.
You can pin filters you build and save yourself, as well as any saved presets already on your account.
Pinned filters appear on your Tutorials page. Click one to apply it instantly.
Owners Can Delete & Archive Any Tutorial
Watch TutorialOnly a tutorial's author could delete or archive it, so if they were out of office, outdated or time-sensitive content stayed live until they got back. Now account owners have full delete and archive access to every tutorial in the account, whoever created it.
This access is for account owners. Other creators can still only delete or archive their own tutorials.
The original author gets an email notification whenever an owner deletes or archives one of their tutorials.
Deleted tutorials go to the Trash, where they can be restored for a limited time.
More Flexible Admin Lock Settings
Watch TutorialLocks used to apply to a whole feature, so keeping one setting consistent meant taking every related option away from your team. Now admins choose the level: lock a feature entirely, or lock only the specific option you want your team to use and leave the rest open.
Set up a tutorial with the settings you want first. It acts as the template your locks are based on.
Locks don't apply to tutorials that already exist. To update those, apply your template's settings to all tutorials before you lock.
Restricting the Activate option to admins only affects non-admin creators.
Bulk Upload Pre-Recorded Media
Watch TutorialAdding pre-recorded media used to mean uploading each step's file one at a time. Now you can select a group of files from your computer, put them in order, and apply them directly to the steps already in your tutorial in one batch.
Hold Control (Windows) or Command (Mac) to select multiple files.
Once every step has media, Bulk Upload Media is grayed out. Delete individual step media, or use Delete all, to make it available again.
Pronunciation Dictionary & Voice Style
Watch TutorialText-to-speech voices sometimes stumble on product names and acronyms, or come out too quiet or too fast for your audience. Now you can make the adjustment once and have it apply. Teach iorad how to pronounce a word in the new Dictionary, and fine-tune how a voice sounds with Voice Style.
Dictionary and Voice Style are in Beta. Reach out with feedback as we keep improving them.
Both features currently work only with English (US) text-to-speech voices that support SSML.
Voice Style settings apply to the current tutorial only, not your whole account.
Voice Style changes apply to step audio generated after you make them, and only to text-to-speech audio, not pre-recorded media.
Updates to Organization Workflows in iorad
Watch TutorialAs your tutorial count grows, keeping everything organized takes more clicks than it should. The redesigned Tutorials & Libraries page puts organization front and center, with new views, quick-add options for categories, tags, and libraries, and a menu that shows every option at once. Dashboard has also been renamed Analytics and moved down the side panel.
Search, sort, and the PowerFilter are all still here, with the same sort options as before.
- Read release note: Exclusion Filtering#dashboard
Exclusion Filtering
Watch TutorialThe PowerFilter used to only show items that included your selection. But sometimes you're looking for what's missing, like which tutorials don't have audio yet. Now every filter tab supports Exclude, so you can search for tutorials and libraries that leave out a specific item.
Items within the same tab are combined with OR, and different tabs are combined with AND.
The Website tab includes Desktop, which covers every tutorial captured with the iorad Desktop tool.
You can save any filter as a custom filter and pin it to your dashboard to reuse it later.
Preview Screenshot Resolution in the Editor
Watch TutorialKnowing a screenshot's resolution helps when you're building or collaborating on a tutorial, but it wasn't something you could check from the editor. Now you can right-click any step screenshot to see its exact size, so new images and edits match the steps already there.
Import Specific Steps and Add Images
Watch TutorialImport already let you pull an entire tutorial into another one, but you then had to delete the steps you didn't need. Now you can choose exactly which steps to bring in, and import images from your computer as steps, for anything iorad can't capture directly.
You can only import tutorials created with the same tool, for example Extension into Extension, or Desktop into Desktop.
For a seamless experience, upload images close in size to your existing step screenshots.
Imported images have the Transparent option turned on, so the highlight box is hidden from learners. You can still add an action and a step description as usual.
Hide the Library Cover Screen on Mobile
Watch TutorialWhen a shared or embedded library is viewed on a small screen, iorad switches it to mobile mode. Until now, mobile mode always opened on the library's cover screen, so learners had to tap a button before they could see anything. A new link parameter lets you skip that step and open the library directly in list view.
Adjust Replaced Text on Screenshots
Watch TutorialAI Find & Replace already swaps text in your screenshots for you. With this update, you get full manual control over how that replacement text looks, so it blends in with the original screen instead of standing out.
Use AI to find and replace text directly within your screenshots.
Manually adjust font color, style, or background if the AI's automatic match isn't accurate.
Apply a find-and-replace to a single step or across the whole tutorial.
Import Scribe Guides into iorad
Watch TutorialSwitching tools shouldn't mean rebuilding your whole library one step at a time. If your team has documented processes in Scribe, you can now bring those guides straight into iorad. Open a Scribe guide, click Import to iorad , and iorad turns it into a tutorial you can edit, with the screenshots, step instructions, and voiceover already in place.
You'll need the iorad Chrome extension installed and to be logged in to iorad.
You can import any Scribe guide you're able to open, whether it's in your own Scribe workspace or shared publicly.
Audio narration is imported when your iorad plan includes audio and you're within your iorad account's audio limit.
Imported tutorials play in Watch and Try modes. They can't be played in Do or Live mode.
